What you’ll do:

Recruitment & Selection

  • Partners closely with the HR Director to achieve staffing and recruitment goals.
  • Develops expertise in HireBridge, our applicant tracking system.
  • Posts new job openings on job boards, assists with triage of applications and maintains candidate tracking sheet.
  • Manages Handshake and LinkedIn accounts.
  • Communicates with candidates and schedules interviews.
  • Manages Career Fair planning, registration and faculty selection.
  • Facilitates Professor outreach by coordinating annual email campaign. 

Onboarding

  • Plans and schedules onboarding activities to ensure a smooth integration for new hires. Conducts HR new hire orientation.
  • Processes payments related to hiring such as relocation expenses, employee referral bonuses and scholarship contributions.

Administration and Compliance

  • Manages State funding of employee training programs including annual application, tracking course completion and reimbursement.
  • Responds to requests for employment verification and writes ad-hoc letters regarding employment status.
  • Administers performance management program to ensure effectiveness and compliance. 
  • Assists with immigration support such as facilitation of certification forms.
  • Maintains personnel files and may assist with digitizing paper documents.
  • Coordinates tuition reimbursement payments.
  • Serves as back-up for the payroll function.
  • Orders and distributes required labor law postings

 Employee Communications

  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Prepares and submits surveys pertaining to a variety of human resources topics.
  • Facilitates distribution of salary increase, promotion and incentive compensation letters.
  • Promotes National Engineers Week.

 Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 2 years of work experience in a Human Resources Department.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; exposure to HRIS data entry and reporting.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations at all levels in the company with diplomacy.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Commitment to promoting an inclusive culture in a diverse organization through equitable practices.

Marketing Assistant

Major Goals: The Marketing Assistant supports marketing operations by compiling, formatting, and reporting information and materials.

Desired/Preferred:

Knowledge of database concepts

Knowledge of desktop publishing software

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain master resumes, project sheets, marketing files and materials.

Participate in the production of proposals.

Maintain accurate data and contact information available in Client Relationship Management system (CRM).

Run reports and extraction of data from CRM.

Communicate regularly with marketing personnel to ensure coordinated efforts are accomplished in a consistent and timely manner.

Maintain deadlines and production standards.

Update firmwide social media outlets and website maintenance.

Formatting content and graphics as requested for marketing collateral.

Maintains marketing materials by checking and replenishing inventory.

Coordinate career fair efforts and support with HR.

Support company event planning and execution for clients and employees.


Computer Skills:

Develop and maintain expertise in CRM systems; Database software; Internet software; Adobe Creative Suite; and MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Qualifications:

1. Associate’s or bachelor’s degree

2. Proficient in MS Office

3. Effective communication skills

4. Excellent time-management skills

5. Strong proof reading and editing skills

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting Project Engineers in conducting structural analysis and design;
  • Playing an important role on the structural design team, helping to solve our client's construction challenges through engineering analysis and application of Ruby Constructability philosophy;
  • Maintaining client contact, making site visits;
  • General exposure to new concepts in constructability

Requirements include:

  • Minimum of a BS degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering (or equivalent);
  • At least one year of relevant professional experience (or a Masters degree);
  • Passing grade on FE exam;
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Tekla, RISA, RAM, Revit, Excel, MathCAD, SAP2000 is a plus;
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

2024 Engineer Intern

The internship program at Ruby+Associates offers a select number of undergraduate and graduate engineering students the opportunity to work with us for the summer. We are looking for talented, motivated students who want to gain a range of structural engineering expertise while working on creative and innovative projects. 

The Ruby internship program lasts approximately 12 weeks. Students are paired with a peer mentor and project manager to gain real world experience in order to expand their knowledge and to prepare for a successful career in structural engineering.

Ruby is currently seeking Interns with a passion for structures, construction and continual learning.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting engineers in conducting structural analysis and design
  • Playing an important role on the structural design team
  • Exposure to client contact, making site visits
  • Learning Ruby’s philosophy in constructability

Requirements include:

  • Candidates must be enrolled in an undergraduate bachelor’s degree program at an accredited college or university the summer prior to senior year, or they must be graduates continuing their education in a program, with an emphasis on structures
  • Completion of Structural Analysis and Steel Design courses
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

Project Engineer

Ruby is currently seeking talented Project Engineers with a passion for structures, construction and continual learning.

Responsibilities include:

  • Determining project design decisions in conjunction with Ruby engineering leadership, based on client and project requirements, such as load requirements, governing codes, architectural constraints, operational constraints, fabrication and erection requirements;
  • Managing multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects with minimal supervision;
  • Participating in developing client proposals including preparing scope, budgets, schedules for assignments;
  • Maintaining close relationship with client throughout development of project and maintaining relationship after project is complete;
  • Developing technical skills of staff using empathy, patience, understanding and a genuine interest in the technical betterment of Ruby+Associates and staff;
  • Overall design and engineering of structural systems for projects assigned from preschematic phase through construction closeout;
  • Performing structural calculations and developing appropriate system concepts and layouts;
  • Preparing contract documents, technical specifications, reports, structural cost estimates and other relevant documents;
  • Reviewing and acting upon RFI’s, submittals, and other construction related documents;
  • Leading team of structural engineers, designers and/or drafters in production of structural construction documents including drawings, specifications, bidding, and construction administration for projects;

Requirements include:

  • 8+ years of related experience;
  • Michigan PE (SE preferred);
  • Minimum of a BS degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET/EAC accredited program, MS preferred;
  • Familiarity with building codes, AISC Design Manual;
  • Knowledge of some or all: AutoCAD, Tekla, RISA, RAM, Revit, Excel, MathCAD, SAP2000 desired;
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks with little direct supervision in a fast paced environment;
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; and
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
