Ruby+Associates, Inc. is proud to announce that a new engineer and intern have joined the firm.

Shantel Lorenz, PE joins Ruby full time as Engineer II. Christian Meara will support the firm as an intern through May 2019.

Lorenz, a Madison Heights, Michigan resident, is a 2014 graduate of Lawrence Technological University (LTU) with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Civil Engineering and Architecture. She went on to earn her Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering at LTU in 2016.  Lorenz is a licensed engineer in Michigan.

Prior to joining Ruby, Lorenz worked as a Junior Structural Engineer for a Detroit-based steel fabricator for several years.  While a student at LTU, Lorenz was President of Chi Epsilon, the Civil Engineering Honor Society; Team Leader of the Senior Capstone Project; Treasurer for the American Institute of Architecture Students Chapter, and she served as Professional Development Chair for the Society of Women Engineers.

Meara, a current LTU student, is anticipating earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in spring 2019.  In 2018 he worked as a summer intern for another area structural engineering firm, and prior to that he served as a Student Assistant to the LTU Civil Engineering and Chemistry Departments. He currently serves as President of the LTU American Concrete Institute (ACI) Student Chapter; Vice President of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Student Chapter, and he is former Captain of the school's Steel Bridge Team.
