The Engineering Society of Detroit (ESD) has selected Katrin Bosch, PE, Project Engineer with Ruby+Associates, as the recipient of a 2022 Outstanding Young Engineer of the Year award. The award was presented on Thursday, June 23rd during the ESD Annual Dinner at Ford Field in Detroit. The ESD Young Engineer Award is presented each year to one or more engineers under the age of 35 for outstanding contributions to the benefit of the engineering community. Katrin shared the honor this year with Vikrant Chiddarwar, a VDDV Engineer with General Motors.

Katrin joined Ruby in 2013 after earning dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Architecture and Civil Engineering from Lawrence Technological University. Since joining Ruby, Katrin has been promoted three times and she has worked on a variety of diverse projects including Detroit's Little Caesars Arena; the Columbus Crew Major League Soccer stadium; the new Wayne County Criminal Justice Center; a Florida amusement park project; and a submarine hull fabrication facility in Rhode Island. Katrin leads Ruby’s ‘Culture of Quality’ program; she serves as a Ruby Recruiter at engineering career fairs; she is a Ruby peer mentor and career coach, and she assists with onboarding new employees.  Katrin is a licensed Professional Engineer in in Michigan.

Outside of work, Katrin is an ACE Mentor for Detroit area high school students; she is a Cross Culture Partner with the Treetops Collective; and a volunteer with the Humane Society of West Michigan where she serves as a dog foster mom. In 2019 Katrin lectured to three area 5th grade classes for their annual STEM day, conducting hands-on activities to inspire a love of engineering. She was a panelist during the American Heart Association Go Red Goes STEM program for Detroit Public School District girls interested in STEM careers.
