Bruce Burt Retires After 40+ Year Career

Ruby + Associates, a Degenkolb Company, announces the retirement of Senior Principal Bruce Burt, PE, P.Eng., effective May 1, 2026, after more than 40 years with the firm.

As Ruby’s third original employee, Bruce has been part of the company’s story from the very beginning. Throughout his career, he played a major role in the growth of the firm, contributing to complex projects across the country while helping develop the strong culture of leadership, mentorship, and technical excellence that defines the organization today.

Bruce is widely respected not only for his engineering expertise, but also for the relationships he has built throughout his career. He has mentored countless engineers and colleagues over the years, generously sharing his knowledge, experience, and passion for the profession.

In addition to his work with the firm, Bruce has remained deeply involved in the engineering community. He served in leadership roles with the American Institute of Steel Construction and contributed to the next generation of engineers through his service on the Lawrence Technological University Civil and Architectural Advisory Board.

Reflecting on his career, Bruce shared, “I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Dave Ruby, my mentor, who taught me not only the practice of engineering but also the importance of professionalism, leadership, and giving back to our profession. It has been a true pleasure to work alongside Tricia Ruby for more than twenty years. Through her leadership, she built a strong, successful organization while continuing her father’s legacy.”

Bruce’s impact on our firm and the engineering profession will be felt for years to come. We are grateful for his leadership, dedication, and the lasting influence he has had on so many throughout his career.
