Structural Engineer | Intern

Position Description:

Ruby is again offering a summer internship program for future engineers! The goal of this program is to give students an understanding of how a structural engineering practice operates to complement your academic career and to create a recruitment pipeline. We are very fortunate to hire many former interns who wish to join the firm full-time upon completing their studies. We have openings for seniors and graduate students in the following offices: Grand Rapids, MI, and Detroit, MI. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Passion for structural and seismic analysis.
  • Registered as a full-time civil engineering/architecture student and currently enrolled or considering enrollment as a graduate student in structural engineering.
  • Strong academic achievement in upper-division civil/structural engineering courses.
  • Extracurricular pursuits including leadership roles.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

Entry-Level Structural Engineer | Designer

Ruby is currently seeking talented Engineers with a passion for structures, construction and learning.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting Project Engineers in conducting structural analysis and design;
  • Playing an important role on the structural design team, helping to solve our client's construction challenges through engineering analysis and application of Ruby Constructability philosophy;
  • Maintaining client contact, making site visits;
  • General exposure to new concepts in constructability

Requirements include:

  • Minimum of a BS degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering (or equivalent);
  • At least one year of relevant professional experience (or a Masters degree);
  • Passing grade on FE exam;
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Tekla, RISA, RAM, Revit, Excel, MathCAD, SAP2000 is a plus;
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
